Excellent floating jazz pickup

I trial fitted this pickup to my Loar V600 archtop which has an excellent acoustic sound, rather warmer than the vast majority of archtops that I have played, including vintage instruments. The pickup mirrored the acoustic tone of the guitar with just a little top cut and some aging EJ16 strings and could be coaxed into providing a surprising amount of bass - surprising because floating pickups thin enough to fit into the space available on this type of guitar usually also have a rather thin sound quality (this applies to the market leader as much as any other). Very pleased and not a little smug!

Best an inch away from the neck, too clie and it seems to mush the sound a little, depending how hard your picking is.
Sound is good for jazz style, pulling melody from chords .

Si vous cherchez le son des "big box" des guitaristes de jazz des années 50 à 70, ce côté un peu cartonneux, très médium, chaud, et finalement très ampli à lampe, ce n'est pas le bon micro. Si vous considérez que votre archtop est d'abord une guitare acoustique, avec un joli son bien équilibré que vous souhaitez amplifier en restituant toute sa personnalité, là, c'est le bon choix. Evidemment, si vous utilisez des pédales, ou aimez saturer votre ampli à lampes, mes remarques ont moins de sens. Mais sur un ampli à transistor type JazzAmp, c'est absolument parfait. En fait, cela dépend de la qualité de votre guitare... et donc du son qu'elle produit "à sec". La bande très large de ce micro va en conserver la finesse... mais peut aussi peut-être en souligner les éventuelles limitations (c'est à voir...). Bref, un très (trop ?) bon micro.
