Boss BC-1X Bass Compressor

I'm so glad with my purchase. This pedal is exactly what I wanted. You can use it for light compression smoothening the dynamics and slightly bringing forward some mids and highs in a very nice way. You can also turn up the compression quite a lot. In that mode the tone becomes somewhat aggressive and snappy. It's so good! It's perfect for slap, pick or finger playing. That's the tone I've always been looking for and could never get in digital processors.
Pros:
- Awesome tone regardless of playing style;
- Simple to use - I would say this pedal gets it just right. Boss gives you
the minimum number of knobs to fulfil all your bass
compression needs with enough precision.
- LED display - shows you the compression action in real time. Actually
helps. Compression can sometimes be hard to evaluate by
ear especially by beginners.
Cons:
- Battery drainer - I drained 2 batteries in a single day with this pedal. You
have to remember to remove the input jack in order to
stop consumption. Not a real problem for since I use it
on a pedalboard with a power supply.
- Not cheap - the price had me hesitating for a few months but I'm glad
with my investment.

Conclusion:
This pedal is perfect for me as a bass player who plays different genres. It's versatile, easy to use and sounds great.
