Danelectro 58 longhorn bass

First impression out of the box was of a well finished pretty little bass.It has a well balanced feel with no neck dive and it looks really cool if you like the retro style.I ran the bass through my trace Elliot and the sound was crisp and clean and surprisingly can be slapped. The main reason for choosing a 3/4 bass comes down to the weight of a full size bass and for me it,s easier to be able to sing and play live.Danelectro have really committed themselves with a good choice of left handed models that are available in colours other than black. The only concerns long term are the tiny tuning keys and the fragile looking knobs but I am very happy with this bass.

Excellent Bass!

Was looking for a particular sound, and I'm not disappointed. Well made and seems authentic given that the tone controls do little. That's fine as you'd leave the neck pickup on full and control that 60s tone on the amp/desk. Give it forty eight hours to acclimatise, a fairly minor set-up and it's good to go. Great price for such a gem.

Extremely light, great sounding bass for a good price.

It takes a certain type of taste to like looking at it, but this bass is super light-weight with no neck-dive, has a great feeling neck, and an incredible sound despite being short-scale. Still my go-to bass even ~3 years later.

The worst thing about it are the knobs, which feel a little fragile, & can even catch on each-other. Maybe also the wallpaper wrapped around the sides, which, in my case, didn't quite stick enough around the contours at the neck.

I didn't know much about this bass when I bought it, and was pleasantly surprised to see it keep cropping up when watching live shows. I'd point my finger and say "That's my Ugly Dan!"
