If you play extreme metal and abuse it hard, it might start coming off after a while, but that's not a problem. They're cheap and you get them in pairs.

Very little negtive impact on the sound of the bass drum (although I was changing the skin at the same time, so it's hard to tell for sure) and it's pretty obvious it seems to be protecting the area most likelt to split - where the beater strikes the bass drum. I've only had it a few months with light use, but it seems to be wearing well. Easy to apply and good value, it's certainly much cheaper than a new bass drum skin!
