Bring back that loving feeling
The thing is that the U87 is held by an elastic strap on the EA87 shockmount. So, I prefer to pay Neumann, who understand the cost and value of this microphone.
The elastic strap brings the original EA87 shock mount back to a brand new state (operational wise). I suggest looking for online videos that explain how to properly place the straps in the EA87. There are many videos, but search for the ones that show how to hide the metal pieces that hold the elastic straps behind the EA87 structure. See more than one video. It looks simple but if you do it right the result is nicer.
Of course, it is expensive! But since it has such an important role - it is actually what holds the U87 in place - then I prefered not to risk it by buying something cheaper or from other manufacturers.
