Neutrik a must for patch panels, especially the 5-pin XLR

Not cheap (but then again not too bad for Neutrik). But it's a beautiful connector. Also use the rear mounting bezel (Neutrik MFD, <a class="article link" href="neutrik_mfd.htm">Neutrik MFD</a>) instead of plain nuts, they only cost a few pence and make the mounting process so much easier and secure the connector much more securely.

If you are building a patch panel where people are plugging/unplugging (and probably some poor brand connectors) then it has to be Neutrik. Especially for the 5-pin XLR (lighting DMX), because the diameter of the pins is less than the 3-pin XLR. Pick a cheapy brand and you're going to get bent or broken pins and damaged mating connectors. So don't be a fool, use genuine Neutrik in these applications. Save your cheapy brands for less challenging applications!

Neutrik have pretty much taken over from Switchcraft and Deltron as the 'go-to' brand for connectors. And for good reason, their products are extremely well-designed and easy to use. I say this after a career in pro audio which involved soldering many thousands of connectors of all types - and I can only think of a couple of strange cases where Neutrik connectors were not appropriate. Not only do the unpack, align and solder easily - they can be reused (with a little cleaning) - in fact I have never thrown any away! Even my oldest Neutrik connectors (late 1980's vintage) transmit sparkling clear audio with a little cleaning.

So for field and studio installation, Neutrik is one of the best. The only big decision with this connector was whether to use fixing hardware or rivets.

Comme d’habitude dans la gamme des connecteurs pro, c’est cher, mais ça marche, et longtemps. Ce sont des embases au format standard D, donc elles pourront très facilement prendre la place de vieux connecteurs abîmés, ou en remplacement d’embases 3 broches.
C’est pour ce dernier cas d’utilisation que je les ai achetées. Elles sont maintenant montées dans des changeurs de couleur DMX, en remplacement de connecteurs 3 broches en plastique. Fonctionnellement, ça ne change pas grand chose, mais le métal inspire plus de solidité, et le système de verrouillage est de qualité. Le pas de vis ne risque pas d’être foiré : la fixation se fait par vis/écrou. Pour le raccordement électrique, ce sont des cuvettes à souder (à mon avis plus fiable que les vis).

PS : En réponse à l'annonce précédente, il ne s'agit ABSOLUMENT PAS d'un connecteur DIN mais bien d'une fiche XLR à 5 broches, correspondant au standard des produits d'éclairage DMX pro.

Die Neutrik »NC5 FD-L1« & Neutrik »NC5MDL1« XLR 5-polig wie auch die Neutrik »NC3 MD-L1« & Neutrik »NC3 FD-LX« habe ich als Löthilfe im Gebrauch.
Dazu werden je Buchse/Stecker zwei M3 Senkkopf-Schrauben ca 20mm aus dem Baumarkt für 0,08 Euro sowie eine »Neutrik MFD« Montageplatte benötigt. Ferner brauchen die Buchsen/Stecker ein 24mm Loch zum Einbau. Die Neutrik »D-Series« Stecker/Buchse lassen sich im Gehäuse drehen. Eine Anleitung dazu gibt es auf der Neutrik-Webseite (Warum ist dazu kein Hinweis am Produkt?). Auf einer 14x14cm Polystyrolplatte (Anordnung wie die »4« auf einem Würfel) montiert und in einen kleinen Kugelkopf-Schraubstock eingespannt geht das Löten sehr gut. Gerade die 5pol XLR Kabelarbeiten werden dadurch besser und einfacher. Außerdem wird auch das Material geschont. Bei Nichtgebrauch habe ich die Buchsen/Stecker mit Neutrik Dummy Plugs »NDM & NDF« verschlossen. Aufgrund der besten Passgenauigkeit benutzte ich nach vielen Fehlkäufen nur noch Neutrik und bin so allen Ärger los.
