Ortega Ptwo Combo

First, all the features and controls work fine: bass/treble knobs, reverb-chorus-delay effects, volume, on/off powering, charge port, aux entry, headphones out, Bluetooth activation, and the 6.35mm jack locks firmly.

With these basic checks out of the way, how is the tone? Clearer and bassier than expected for such compact loudspeakers and amp frame. Loudness is fine, not too much for evening practice, not too weak to fill a room.

The assembly is neat without any gaps or unevenness anywhere, and the knobs turn smoothly and not so easily that they change by accident just brushing them. The diodes are bright and clearly seen in daylight. All the effects sound pretty, but the chorus is its forte in my opinion, they could squeeze such a quality tone in such a tiny box, that's awesome.

The delay does not do the ping-pong sound of lesser circuits, and the reverbs are just natural. My only wish is they used the whole width of the frame for the knobs, so they could be a little more separated, and a little larger. But the ergonomics are quitte usable as is, so this only a minor point.

Users with small fingers won't bother. So, all in all a high quality sound box, and the price is very moderate, the overall value is high. The skin is grippy and makes the box easy to handle, plus the feet are rubber, and won't scratch a table. It is also heavy enough to not move by just jiggling the cable, and to avoid distortion by vibration of the frame.

The feel of the assembly is solid and tight. The charging cable works, locks tightly on both sides, the notice is brief and clear, and that wraps up this review.

Auf der Suche nach einem kleinen Ukulelenverstärker habe ich bereits mehrere ausprobiert; Laney 10W, AC pro 60, Nobels Streetman, Joyo Bantamp. War immer etwas unzufrieden mit dem Klangbild. Machmal zu metallisch, machmal zu dünn im Gesamtbild. Oft kein Hall.
Beim Ortega hat mir das Klangbild sehr gut gefallen, präzise Höhen/Bässe und guter Hall vorallem bei der low-G Saite.
Die Akkulaufzeit muß ich erst noch beobachten; bei der etwas mageren Beschreibung fehlt, ob man auch während des Ladens spielen kann und daß man Überladen vermeiden sollte; wobei heute normalerweiese jedes Ladegerät das managt.
Deshalb Bedienung nur 3 Sterne

Ausgepackt und gestaunt wie klein der Verstärker tatsächlich ist. Er wirkt solide. Die Bedienungsanleitung - ein Faltblatt mit Informationen auf Englisch und Deutsch - war für mich leicht zu verstehen und schnell gelesen. Zuerst den Akku aufgeladen und danach eine Bluetooth-Verbindung mit meinem Smartphone hergestellt.

Auf dem Smartphone den Music Player gestartet und klassische Gitarrenmusik aufgerufen. Sofort wurde Kindheitserinnerungen an die Musik aus dem Röhrenradio wachgerufen, ein warmer Ton aus dem Lautsprecher. Die Klangregelung des Ptwo beeinflusst nicht das Bluetooth-Signal.

Hab eine Cordoba Stage Tradional per Kabel angeschlossen. Der Verstärker steht trotz Kabel auf der Rückseite fest auf dem Tisch. Es ist ein kleiner Verstärker zum üben und diesen Zweck erfüllt er sehr gut, wie ich meine. Die Effekte sind ausreichend zum Ausprobieren. Die Cordoba Stage Tradional ist bereits unverstärkt erstaunlich laut. Der Ptwo liefert hier noch einiges an Volumen hinzu.

Der USB-Anschluss kann für Aufnahmen genutzt werden. Getestet habe ich das erfolgreich mit Voice Recorder auf meinem Smartphone. So lässt sich der Erfolg beim Üben gut überprüfen.

Bei einem PC unter Windows 11 und einem Raspberry PI 5 mit Debian Linux Bookworm hat sowohl die Bluetooth-Verbindung als auch die Aufnahme mittels Audacity funktioniert.

Der Ptwo macht mir Spaß. Er lädt mich zum Experimentieren ein.

Was mir nicht gefällt ist, dass der Ptow nicht wartungsfreundlich konstruiert ist. Das Bedienfeld mit der Elektronik besteht aus einem verschraubtem Winkelblech. Der Akku aber ist im Korpus verbaut. Front und Rückseite sind nicht geschraubt oder geklemmt, sondern verklebt oder verleimt. Der Austausch des Akkus ist nicht möglich. Die Freude am Ptwo währt daher nur so lange, wie der Akku durchhält.
