Rode PG2-R

Purchased for use in lowkey live musical performance recordings in the field, capturing audio for video, where use of a full-size boom would be impractical. For use with Rode NTG1 microphone.

I've only just received the item but it seems very sturdy and practical for my needs,

The microphone mounting brackets can be installed at different points on top of the handle depending on the length of microphone you're using.

The large fastening knob allows easy alteration of the angle at which the microphone is orientated relative to your hand.

There are convenient grooves in the handle to feed your cable through, keeping everything tidy.

There is a thread in the bottom of the handle allowing you to quickly and easily mount it on to a Boom pole if the need arises.

All in all a very practical little piece of kit as far as I'm concerned. Would recommend.

I’ve used this grip in demanding environments—from dense forests to high-wind coastal areas—and it has handled every "hard situation" I've thrown at it without a single structural failure.

While it’s lightweight enough for long sessions, the materials are high-grade. I’ve had other shock mounts snap or lose tension after a few months of heavy use, but the PG2-R remains as solid as day one.

The Rycote Lyre suspension is the star here; even in extreme temperatures or when tossed around in a packed gear bag, these mounts don't fatigue or perish like standard rubber O-rings.

The dual Lyre mounts provide incredible isolation. Even when I’m moving quickly or navigating rough terrain, the handling noise is virtually non-existent.

The 3/8" thread at the base is reinforced. I’ve switched it between the grip and a boompole hundreds of times, and the threading hasn't stripped or loosened.
