Amazing tone under the right conditions
Firstly I must say the red channel with boost on doesn't sound that great. For metal tones the palm mutes sound really spluttery and just don't sound right - even when paired with a tube power section it still sounds a bit off. Definitely a usable tone in a live situation but beyond that I'd not have used it.
However after watching Kohle's video on youtube I was able to get an excellent tone on par with my 5150 or any other tube amp. You need to run the crunch (green) channel, with the boost on, and a tubescreamer in front of it to get that modern metal high gain tone. Pair it with a tube power amp with a lot of presence, and a good cabinet and you will have a studio ready tone. Even sounds great with the GPA 100, just with a bit less presence.
Hope this helps some metal players get some great tones

What you want a Mesa to sound like
I am totally blown away of how this pedal sounds for this price.
I have had a few Mesa in the studio to record, but they are always hard to get right.
This pedal is NOT the same, but it basically gave me the sound I was aiming for.
I have seymour duncan poweramp and that’s it. Golden.
The only thing I would have liked was the IR output to be an XLR.
The knobs are cool because they look the same as the amp, but they are a little annoying to read.
People are sleeping on this pedal. Get it!

A fantastic amp sim for Boogie/Recto fans.
Absolutely brilliant pedal. For those like me who love the Boogie/Recto tone but a) don't have a spare £3k lying around and b) don't have the space for either storing or transporting one plus a 4x12 cab (hard to do that on a motorbike in my case), this is the ideal solution.
I went ampless around 9 months ago and haven't looked back, starting initially with those Joyo "sound" pedals (Harley Benton do rebrands here of the same... Highly recommend the California for a cost effective ampless Boogie solution). Live involves plugging straight into the PA whilst at home I have headphones. I have a basic pedalboard with a tubescreamer clone, chorus and delay, that's it. The whole thing fits in a laptop bag and gets slung over my shoulder on the motorbike. I play a Jackson DK2M, an Ibanez S series and an old 1950s Hofner archtop that sounds like those old jazz guitars, so I have a few different sounds. I play worship at Church and at home a mixture of Celtic rock, Metal, blues and various other things. This pedal absolutely covers all bases.
Quality-wise it's the usual tc electronic standard; solid weighty metal. Sound-wise it's even better - the sound to my ears is bang-on with the real thing. Green channel is deep and rich, Red channel is crushing 90s/00s rock & metal heaven that will have you riffing and shredding away quite merrily. The boost function essentially works like an inbuilt tubescreamer and works very well in use. The Tight and Presence features are also very useful additions for further tweaking your sound and the Celestion cab sim sounds great to my ears.
A useful feature is the previous settings of EQ etc are saved when you change channels, so you can switch back and forth without fiddling with controls.
All in all, a fantastic pedal, so much so it's bumped my beloved Joyo California off my board. If you love the Boogie/Recto sound but can't afford one, this is absolutely your solution. Highly recommend!
