I bought this to take some of the strain off of my AER Compact 60. In fact, given the price, I bought two of them.
For smaller gigs at more intimate venues, one is more than enough to handle both the guitar and the vocals, and for larger gigs, running both together works perfectly, and gives me a variety of options for set up.
So, the obvious question that I wanted answered… how does it compare to the AER..?
Well, it’s really very good. Build quality is very much the same and it has all the same features, with the addition of a 48v Phantom on/off switch, and an Aux In, both of which would be helpful on the AER.
The one thing I wish both amps had is a combo XLR/Jack input on channel 1, but that’s a first world problem and really isn’t that important.
Sound “character” is different between the two but I would say they’re equally good at reproducing a very honest and palatable acoustic tone… and after 30 seconds, you forget about the differences, sink into the tones, and get on with playing and enjoying it.
This amp is great value and does everything I ask of it. I love the AER, but this is a very close second at a fifth of the cost.
