I started using optima gold strings in the mid 80s (then called maxima gold strings) and will probably never change that. The sound is awesome, they feel a little heavier than normal strings and are much more durable. If you don't know them I recommend you give them a try.

They sound brighter than regular strings but the coating doesn't last so it does corrode pretty easily and I had to replace these much quicker than normal string

Irgendwann Anfang/Mitte der 90ger bin ich in einem Münchner Laden über diese Roundwounds in 24 Karat gestolpert. Auf der schwarzen EPI-LP sehen die toll aus, dachte ich ….
Nun Heute sind 80% meiner 12 E-Gitarren damit bestückt, weil die Teile sind überdurchschnittlich strapazierfähig und haben einen Mega Klang. Ich klimpere seit fast 50 Jahren vor mich hin und habe nie Bessere unter die Fingerkuppen bekommen, benutze nie ein Plektrum und Speed-Metal ist nicht meine Welt.
Im letztem Jahr habe ich hier eine Gibson LP Standard Goldtop P90 erstanden, mit den Saiten einfach ein erfüllter Traum. Klare Kaufempfehlung !
