Excellent soprano sax mouthpiece

This is a very good mouthpiece. At least it suits me and my instrument. I play it with a Rico 2 reed and Rovner dark ligature. It's well made and well priced compared to other similar 'pieces.

I’ve bought about ten Otto Link Tone Edge mouthpieces so far, all in size 6*. Each one played differently. But this one is the worst of the lot. The box had already been opened (there was no security seal). When I ordered the mouthpiece, I specifically requested original, unopened packaging. Apparently, no one reads such notes. These mouthpieces usually come with a basic metal ligature, which is poor quality and too small anyway. This one didn't even include that. It doesn't matter; I would have thrown it out regardless. The sound is unpleasant, too harsh and completely lacking in warmth. Even Chinese knock-offs of Otto Link play better. It really seems like this particular unit is made of cheap plastic rather than hard rubber. Last time, Thomann sent me a Yamaha 7C mouthpiece that had clearly been (poorly) modified. I threw it straight in the trash. It looks like this Otto Link is about to meet the same fate.

Tolles Mundstück, schlechte Klammer

Das Mundstück selbst ist einwandfrei, klingt toll, ist klanglich sehr flexibel und spricht gut an. Die mitglieferte Klammer hingegen ist völliger Schrott und schlichtweg zu klein, sie passt auf das Mundstück, aber nicht, wenn noch ein Blatt dazwischen ist. Wahrscheinlich gehen die Hersteller (richtiger Weise) davon aus, daß ohnehin fast jeder Saxophonist seine eigene, höherwertige Klammer besitzt. Die meisten Mundstücke werden deshalb ja auch ganz ohne Klammer verkauft. Würde dieses hier zum gleichen Preis ohne Klammer geliefert werden, würde sich sicherlich auch niemand beschweren. So aber steht man am Wertstoffhof plötzlich vor dem Problem: Ist das jetzt Restmüll? Altmetall? Verpackungsschrott?... Das nervt, daher nur 4 Sterne für ein Topmundstück.
