Up the quality a bit, and you're there
Agent81 28.08.2022
Up the quality (but not the price) and you got this RC.

Pros:
- Beautiful looking instrument
- Beautiful sound (when unplugged)
- Easy to replace strings and take it apart for some cleaning
- Good tuning keys. No major string snapping incidents. Stays in tune.
- Sturdy (I've been dragging this through camps, seafronts and trips. Not a scratch on it. The unfinished neck also took no damage.
- Light, very easy to handle and carry.

Cons:
- This is my first experience with a mini humbucker so maybe they all have this trait, but the signal is very very weak. I plug strait to a Katana 50. I'm not sure if I'm missing some kind of other amplification. (I'm novice when it comes to sound set up). Plus, the first time I plugged it in there was no sound at all. I had to... shake it first. I opened it up to check expecting some bad soldering, but it actually looked really well put together. So eventually I got used to playing it unplugged which sounds really good.
- The nut. I don't know what strings the stock had but I immediately put some 0.13 and the low strings wouldn't fit in all the way. Eventually there was no real issue with playing and sound but you'll have issues if you go bigger. I personally don't recommend going smaller than 0.13 on a resonator.

Some other -subjective- comments:
- Keep in mind!: This is a smaller scale guitar with no cutaway so, the main body begins at the 12th fret which makes reaching to 14th - 15th a bit...challenging. It's on me not researching this.
- Most of the strings vibrate too much when strung open and you can notice the pitch swift. My clip-on tuner also goes a bit crazy. Could be my novice playing but the issue is still there after 4 string set changes. Eventually my picking adapted and compensates enough.
- I have this for 10 months now and I'm happy having fun with it. This is my first attempt at slide playing, open d, fingerstyle and all that. No real regrets, but I personally believe that the best option here is the Harley Benton Custom Line CLR-ResoElectric, but then again you wouldn't have the same natural sound. But that's where my eyes are set on for a next buy.
- I really wanted to rate this higher because I have found a connection to this guitar so, if I find out I am wrong about the pickups, I will gladly edit this.
- If the price drops or the quality goes a bit up, I can see this guitar becoming popular.

Why buy it?
- If you really want a reso with a pickup
- Warm wood body, natural sound
- Beautiful looking
- Reachable price range
- First time reso. Not sure about sticking with this kind of guitar style or not
- Support smaller-cheaper brands

Coole kleine Bluesguitar
Robert550 06.09.2021
