Use case: organizing and transporting audio & power cables.
Order: I bought 3 units because the photos looked great and the price was hard to ignore.

Where it went wrong
1) Size & naming confusion

When I unboxed them, the cases were smaller than expected. After measuring, I realized the listed dimensions refer to the internal space, not the outside.
On the product page the specs clearly say (W×H×D) 360 × 285 (370 with lid) × 360 mm — but the product title “80×40×40” sets a very different expectation.

For context: I’ve bought several THON cases before (e.g. “Thon Accessory Case 60×40×40 BR” — Item 168892) where the title reflects the internal dimensions. The inconsistency here caused the mismatch in expectations.

Suggestion to Thomann: please use one consistent policy for product titles (either always internal or always external dimensions) across comparable cases to avoid confusion.

2) Build quality (the deal-breaker)

This is, unfortunately, the worst-built case I’ve handled so far:

Rivets: multiple were broken/snipped right out of the box. Many weren’t properly set — the tails hadn’t flared on the far side, so joints were loose.

Assembly: metal corner pieces to wooden panels were sloppily attached. The whole box is riveted, but too many rivets are under-set or mis-set.

Interior: gaps and holes in the inner corners that really should be sealed (e.g., with silicone) so small items like connectors or cable ends don’t get stuck.

Materials: overall feel is low grade and not confidence-inspiring for real-world load-in/load-out use.

I actually had to do minor fixes on day one just to make them usable — which shouldn’t be necessary on new cases.

Bottom line

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)

Recommendation: I do not recommend this model. The quality issues outweigh the attractive price.

Note to Thomann

I’ve been a Thomann customer for years; this is the first time I felt compelled to leave such a negative review. Please strengthen incoming quality control so products with these issues don’t make it to the shelf, and please standardize how dimensions are presented in titles to prevent the kind of misunderstanding that happened here.

I bought this as a convenient cable storage solution and for the price I can’t fault the quality, size is adequate and the build is solid. Wheels come detached and have to be assembled but this is very straight forward and the overall they are solid, Hinges and Locks are all good quality.

Only negative I had is that it took a frustratingly long time to arrive. I ordered with an estimated delivery date well within the time of the job I required it for and it took 5/6 days longer than estimated. Part of this was due to new Brexit import rules around shipments to the UK and it was held up by UK customs for 4 days before being released! Something to bear in mind if you need it quickly and are ordering to the UK
