Gotoh 404BO-5 C Bass Bridge

I had this bridge installed by my luthier on my Sire V5 and he said that none of the original holes fit, he had to drill new ones. Furthermore, when it's installed aligned with the string-through-body holes, the saddles are misaligned with the neck (the 5 strings get uncentered, slightly to the right). I'm having mine reinstalled and putting the strings through the bridge instead of through the body to correct this. Also, if using this aligned with the string-through-body holes, the saddle intonation screws have to be cut because they are too long and the neck socket of the bass needs to be adjusted because otherwise the neck sits too high relative to the bridge. It's pretty much the opposite of a direct replacement for a Sire V5 in every aspect.

It's very sturdy and sounds good, though, but I can't say it makes a lot of a difference from the stock bridge.

I was looking for a replacement bridge for my Sire V7 basses. At first, I thought about going with the classic Leo Quan Badass. However, since the Sires come with a string-through body bridges, I decided to try the Gotoh. It was easy to mount, seems pretty solid, and there's a noticeable improvement in sound (much stronger emphasis on the fundamental). I can't think of a single reason not to recommend this product, since it's excellent.

I am a metal guitarist but I happen to play bass in a second band. I own an Ibanez SRX 705 which is around 22 years old. Good instrument but it sports a lousy bridge that, for reasons known only to Ibanez designers, offers only ONE height adjustment screw, thus leading to a nearly impossible task of adjusting independent saddle height... After suffering the aforementioned frustration for years I decided it was a time for an upgrade. Keep in mind that the bass is NOT my main instrument so I opted for a more affordable solution so I ended up ordering the Gotoh 404BO-5 hoping things would go as planned... Boy, was I PLEASANTLY surprised... The installation was quite easy, as my luthier assured me, and the end result is beyond describable! The feel is great, the string spacing is ideal, the quality looks top notch and last, but certainly not least, the sound improvement is remarkable! What really did the trick is that the low B string suddenly stopped sounding mushy!!! The overall sound is tight, more projected and focused, resulting in a way better playing experience. Invest fearlessly!

Die Brücke ist solide gemacht und ist sowohl für das Saitenaufziehen auf der Brücke auf dem Korpus als auch für body through geeignet. Ich habe sie für meinen neck through Bass mit body through eingebaut. Passt alles, schöne satte Schwingungsübertragung. Eine eine merkwürdige Kleiniigkeit, die u.U. etwas nerven kann: Die Schrauben für die Saitenreiter von der H, E, und A Saite sind kürzer ca. 0,5 mm als die der D und G Saiten. Damit kann bei den tieferen Saiten der Saitenreiter nicht voll ausgefahren werden bzw. die vorhandenen kürzeren Schrauben durch M3 30mm ersetzt werden. So habe ich es gemacht.
