Harley Benton DC-Junior FAT TV Yellow

Pulled the trigger on this baby. Really amazed at the High quality finish, frets, attention to detail....Bridge is nice, intonation was near perfect right out of the box. Was going to use this guitar just for a dedicated slide guitar but it plays too nice to leave it just for slide. Love the big, chunky neck. Sounds killer in both modes but the P-90 single is my fav. Stop spending hundreds of dollars on those well known models that disappoint!! The only thing I would change are the tuners. Nothing wrong with them, they work good & stay in tune, I just don't like the look of them. Would love to see a more "vintage style" button. But that is a preference........Stop reading this and buy one. You won't be sorry!!!

Goodness me, what a guitar. I wanted a fatter 50s-style neck and this neck feels incredible. And the roaring P90 pick ups really do roar but you can equally get a great clean sound by rolling back off them. The nut seems high but that might just be the style of the guitar because the action is fine and particularly low lower down the fret board. Lovely weight and balance on a strap. Good weight to it but not as heavy as a Les Paul. Great finish. Tuners seem fine - thy work. I'm not letting this guitar go anywhere. One of my favourites in my collection now.

What a great LP Junior style guitar ! The body/neck timber is extremely light weight, the balance great, and the tone is very close to mahogany, maybe not as ‘rich’ or ‘tight’ in the low-midrange as mahogany, but it’s so light that the whole guitar has a great archtop-like acoustic ‘bounce’. My previous guitar is an L5 copy, The Loar LH-600, with a chunky deep-V neck profile, the DC Junior FAT neck is not as wide or deep as that neck, but a great likeness to some old chunky-neck Les-Paul’s I’ve played. As a fan of chunky necks (and a double bass player) this profile is my Goldilocks. Pickup sounds like a great P90 and the coil-tap is a great addition without complicating this perfectly simply design. Thanks again Thomann, I’m absolutely hooked on these Harley Benton’s, two bass guitars in the mail as I write this review 😂😂😭 lucky they’re so dang cheap 🥹😍

Eine Gitarre die mich nach langer Zeit persönlich angesprochen hat. Im Internet ist es schwierig ... Meinungen gehen auseinandern und Tests als auch Videoreviews wirken schwer gebiast! ... Eines ist jedoch klar ... meine Meinung nach Erhalt der Gitarre nach Langer Wartezeit und Überseetransport!

An der Gitarre ist konstruktionstechnisch nichts besonders oder ausgefeiltes. Die Art der Gitarre ist hinlänglich seit Jahrzehnten bekannt und bewährt. Brett, geleimter Hals, ein Pickup und 2 Knobs. Prima - Job done! Rund 250,- EUR für eine Benton in der Ausstattung ist schon ordentlich! Aber man muss hier ganz klar sagen … man erhält hier tatsächlich sehr viel Gitarre und auch Qualität fürs Geld!

Für mich überzeugt die Gitarre vor allem trocken gespielt - und das ist auch das KO-Kriterium worin für mich jede Gitarre (egal in welchem Preisrahmen) zu bestehen hat!

Die Lackierung ist ohne Mängel und die Haptik ist so wie man es erwartet. Keine bösen Überraschungen wie unangenehme Gerüche, etc. Der Hals ist kerzengerade eingesetzt (Die Dots sind leicht mittig versetzt - was für mich aber keine Relevanz hat). Der Hals ist fett, aber nicht zu fett (ich habe Gitarren mit fetteren Hälse) und liegt nach anfänglicher Verwunderung wirklich sehr gut in der Hand. An der Elektronik und der Hardware gibt es nichts auszusetzen.

Beim Pickup scheiden sich die Geister. Das ist ein P90/P100 und die sind konstruktionstechnisch eben dumpfer/voller und es mangelt an Spritzigkeit. Pro Tip: You may consider raising your Amps highs. Die Pickup-Splitfunktion ist nett. Ich spiele auch hauptsächlich den Pickup mit aktivierten Dummy Coil. Soundtechnisch jedoch sind beide Sounds sehr ähnlich. Brumm wird minimiert – ist aber nicht komplett weg und the Trade-off ist ein minimaler Verlust des Top-End der Gitarre – anyone really surprised about this? Ein Customwound Pickup kann sicher mehr Top-End leisten und je nach Qualität der Wachsung und Abschirmung auch weniger Brumm aufweisen … der Werkspickup ist IMHO aber ordentlich und es bedarf (zumindest aktuell) keinem Upgrade.

Was mich persönlich wirklich beeindruckt hat ist die Qualität der Bearbeitung der Bünde. Extrem smooth und angenehm in der Hand! Selbst die besten Bundbearbeitungen meiner USA und Japan Gitarren weisen nicht dieses Maß an Handwerkskunst auf! Das einzige was mich etwas stört ist der Sattel. Dieser hätte etwas weiter heruntergefeilt werden können. Die höhere „Ab-Werk“ Saitenlage wurde umgehend mit dem ersten Wechsel der Saiten korrigiert – auch hier keine Besonderheit ... das ist Standard das je nach Klima wo hin die Gitarre ihren Einsatz auf der Welt findet, dass es nicht gleich überall scheppert!

Eine gelungene und geile Gitarre, die auch gerne mal mit auf die Bühne nehmen möchte …
