Kühnl & Hoyer Topline Bb-Trumpet GM

I purchased this trumpet from a manufacturer I didn’t previously know, because Dario Frate, whose mouthpieces I use, shared a link to their page on his Facebook profile. After visiting their homepage, the company appeared serious and reliable, so I decided to trust them. I also wanted to own a piston trumpet, since I usually play only rotary valve trumpets.
I chose this model, but I was unsure whether to go for the version with the gold brass bell, so I contacted Thomann’s excellent online customer support. They recommended that version, as it should have a sound closer to my rotary-valve Dowids trumpet.
The trumpet is very well made, both in terms of materials and finish. It has a rich, warm sound and is exactly what I was looking for, being accustomed to the tone of German rotary trumpets. It is well in tune and the valve response is excellent, perhaps a bit strong at first, but ideal for technical exercises such as Stamp, where a fast and precise mechanical response is required.
Overall, an excellent choice, especially considering the quality-to-price ratio.
