These strings happen to combine a fine price and tone quality!

Of course one should notice, that strings for acoustic basses are not overflowing the market. So the number of choices are naturally smaller than for acoustic guitars. But I was able to test different kinds of strings for acoustic basses and I was indeed very surprised to find, that these Martin strings provide a very natural overall sound, both in matters of frequency range and tone. They sound brilliantly in high freq. tones and deep for low freqs. The latter is not self evident! A lot of other strings seem to swallow the deep growl feeling one wants and sound a bit tinny instead. These don't! The shiny bronze plating looks nice and it takes a lot of playing and with it perspiration to get these strings to look old. Even without the unbeatable price in mind, these strings are very recommendable for acoustic basses. But as I said. The price is indeed unbeatable. If you are looking for good acoustic bass strings. Take 'em!

Anstelle von Elixirs habe ich versuchsweise die Martin SP aufgezogen. Die Saiten besitzen eine deutlich höheren Tiefmittenanteil als die doch deutlich weicher klingenden Elixirs und erzeugen auf meinem Ken Rose AB sogar richtig kurrige Bässe. Vom Sound her wirklich gut!

Aber leider haben die Saiten meine Finger von oben bis unten grün eingefärbt, was ich hasse. Sie klangen auch noch nach 50h Spieldauer recht ordentlich, aber diese Fingerfärberei: ätzend!
Vom Sound her würde ich sie wiederkaufen, vom Preis her sowieso, aber immer grüne Finger nach der Probe oder noch blöder nach dem Gig - nee!

Gottseidank gibt's ja noch die Fender 8060!
