A review of MXR Custom Shop Hybrid Fuzz

I was impressed by the idea of having a fuzz face with mixed transistors. I bought is out of curiosity and the gorgeous paintwork! Indeed, the fuzz is something mixed. I hear a bottom end that is associated with the germanium and the grit from a silicon. The clean up with the volume is ok, not so ''glass like'' tone with volume down. The sound is really loud in full settings. The interesting part is that in the last 5-10% of the fuzz knob, the sound gets really gritty, it's like the silicon takes the upper hand! On this setting it's acting more like a silicon fuzz completely. Before that it's a sweet combination of both worlds. It's an interesting pedal. I think for people looking for one fuzz face style pedal, that can surely do the work and exceed at it. Buy responsibly and enjoy!

Das Fuzz klingt wunderbar rauh. Wenn man es nur etwas leichter aufdreht, kann es aber auch schöne 70s Lead Sounds erzeugen. Perfekt funktioniert es mit einer Gitarre, mit der man am Volume Poti sensibel regeln kann. Dann macht das Pedal entsprechend mit. Mit weniger sensiblem Poti geht allerdings einiges an Soundmöglichkeiten verloren, denn: am Gerät selbst lässt sich nur die Lautstärke und die Intensität des Zerrgrades regeln. Das sollte man vor dem Kauf unbedingt berücksichtigen.
Auch das Design ist ansprechend. Mir gefällt's.
