I thought this was a fairly generic item but it is slightly unusual. The inner thread only extends for a few millimetres and the the rest of it is essentially a hollow tube. This means that whatever is screwed into it will only ever be held by about 3mm of threading. If the screw part that is screwed into the adapter such as the end of the microphone stand boom arm is short - say less than about 1cm - then it won't work at all.
There are only slots for inserting a coin to unscrew it on one end so don't screw it in the wrong way round or you may end up with it stuck in place.
Maybe look at one of the alternatives. The Millenium one seems to be the better design and is the same price.
