The 57 has been a heavily used mic for countless years, within the recording studio or live on stage. It's for good reason too. Sure other microphones can sound better on certain instruments depending on the musician or room you are going for, but with the 57 you know exactly what you are getting, which is a great microphone for a very cheap price.
The 57 is my go to mic for, like many others, snare and guitar cabinets. After decades of this mic being used on these instruments it just sounds 'right' to mine and most peoples ears. The pronounced low end and presence peak work ideally for these two sound sources and it's hard to get it wrong when paired with a good mic pre-amp.
Add to that the almost indestructible build quality and you can't go far wrong with this mic.
