Tech21 had already built impressive tube-free and versatile guitar preamps with the Sansamp when modelling was still exclusively associated with Claudia Schiffer and co.

The Tech21 Programmable Sansamp Bass Driver DI is much more than just a DI box. With effective tone control and the ability to save three sounds and activate them with a footswitch, users have a convenient preamp at their disposal. Whether plugged into an amp or directly into the mixing desk, this device sounds big and expensive!

É um excelente pré-amp de uso muito fácil. Mais do que um simples pré-amp, é um emulador de amplificadores a válvulas o que permite alcançar uma grande variedade de sons que não é possível com outros pedais. Uso como um dos principais pedais para modelar o "tone" do meu baixo. Na verdade, não encontro nenhum "contra" e penso ser um pedal muito útil para qualquer baixista.

Expected something different

Being the owner of a Bass Fly Rig, I expected a comparable amp simulation but there are WORLDS between the two in terms of transparency and quality of tube emulation. The, admittedly much newer, BFR (v1) has a much better replication of a tube amp and then all the bells and whistles on top. This unit here was supposed to give me the freedom of having several drive settings but I'm unwilling to compromise that much of the sound. It was worth a try though and I'm sure the unit has its applications for other players. I'm holding on to my Fly Rig :)

Amazing pedal

Really good pedal, we use it for recording and for live without any amp - goes directly to our in-ears and to the PA. Super easy to use, great for live with the presets. The sound is also amazing, but take your time to test the sound, and avoid pushing the settings a lot unless you are 100% sure you like it - a small move on a knob makes quite a big difference!
On top of that the possibility to power it via Phantom Power is just really really well thought for live environments! :D

The OG Pre-Amp - 10/10!

I've had numerous pre-amps + DI's on my board but the rule really applies; Buying cheap, is buying expensive. After I've finally purchased this pre amp I understood the difference in quality regarding sound. You can setup the slots to emulate any amp you'd like. You will always have an ampeg sound for example, if you set it up that way. Also very nice feature that you can program the slots and that moving the knobs around won't mess-up your settings since they are saved. Would recommend to everyone. Best pedal I've purchased. Ever.
